COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK
This week the Great Frederick Fair continues from Monday, September 16 through Saturday September 21. This is Frederick County’s single largest event, featuring 18,000 competitive exhibits, ranging from livestock, home arts, farm & garden to 4-H/FFA, a premier showcase for agriculture and education. The Great Frederick Fair’s 2019 entertainment lineup brings together Old, New and Americana Country, Classic and Southern Rock, three nights of thrilling Motorsports and Contemporary Christian music. Wednesday 9/18 there will be a film on Maryland Trains with a box supper included at the Emmitsburg Senior Center on S. Seton Ave. from 3-5 p.m. The cost is $5 per person.
Thursday 9/19 play the game Bunko at the Thurmont Sr. Ctr. from 1-3 p.m.
Friday 9/20 is James H. Mackley Golf Day at Maple Run Golf Course in Thurmont. Registration runs from 7-9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. For more information, call 240-372-6630.

Friday 9/20 checkout the Speaker Series Event with Award-Winning Author Garrett M. Graff who will speak about his books: The Only Plane in the Sky and An Oral History of 9/11 at the Fort Ritchie Community Center from 6-8 p.m. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple which includes light refreshments. Saturday 9/21 and Sunday 9/22 you are invited to the 6th Annual Sweet Potato Festival at Thomason’s Olde Thyme Herb Farm on Stony Point Rd. in East Berlin, PA with sweet potato food, laser tag, face painting, Alpacas, live music and craft vendors. Saturday 9/21 evening at 7pm Elias Lutheran Church invites you to their Swing Dance Date Night in the Elias dining room for a fun, family-friendly, inter-generational community outreach event (that will benefit Elias ministries) and is sure to be a hit. Bring your friends and family along and enjoy an evening of dancing or just sit back and enjoy the music. You are sure to be entertained. The Leister Quartet performs a sophisticated menu of Swing, Jazz, and Blues standards mixed with original compositions. Sunday 9/22 get out those running shoes for the Miles for Meows 5K & Family Fun Run at the Thurmont Community Park with registration starting at 7 a.m. and the 5K run beginning at 8 a.m. and the Family Fun Run at 9 a.m. There will be a Parade of Pets at 10 a.m. The cost for the 5K is $25 pre-registration (includes T-shirt), $30 at event and the Family Fun Run is $5 ages 12 & older and $1/ages 6-11.
